Akufen - wacky, yet totally funky house music. unique style of innovative microsampling. Akufen has this technique where he grabs short little clips out of songs and off the radio, repitches them (I presume), and intertwines them together to make these brilliantly goofy melodies layered over his own beats and basslines.

Aphex Twin - one of the founding fathers of "IDM" on the legendary Warp Records label. This guy is a serious goof ball and you can hear it in his music. He's also a genius with a deeply twisted musical mind. Leelerz recommends "Drukqs", one of his later albums. It's not the most accessible (as in easy to listen to) of his works, but shows an awesome amount of dynamic, complexity and design. Aphex Twin will fuck with you. Sometimes I think some of the things in his music (especially on Drukqs) he put there simply because he felt like being an ass.

Audiovoid - deep, glitchy, bassy, experimental, breaks and downtempo. Fellow North-Bay native originally hailing from Healdsburg.

Autechre - another one of the founding fathers of "IDM" on the legendary Warp Records label.

Bassnectar - politically-charged, super bassy breaks and downtempo. Bassnectar kicks ass and he's doing a great job representing the bay area.

Bill Bless - Not your normal Texan, a creator of epic glitchy breakbeats.

Dave Tipper - Dave Tipper is a top influence for Adaptr. His music is deep and complex and just sounds awesome, period.

Elite Force - UK breaks.

Kraftwerk - Kraftwerk is Kraftwerk - if the Warp Records guys like Aphex Twin and Autechre are the godfathers, then Kraftwerk is the GREAT godfather.

Lawgiverz - One (two actually) of the many bad-ass breakbeat/electronica artists coming out of the UK. You can count on Lawgiverz for plenty of bass and plenty of dancing. In describing their sound, the words dark, spooky, aggressive, bass-heavy, and glitchy, come to mind. Don't miss them.

Meat Katie - Practically invented the sound now known as Techfunk. Influential in the development of breakbeats.

Mouse on Mars - Long time beloved favorite. Quirky, innovative, electro-glitch-poptronica.

Plaid - Melodic, glitchy, quirky.

Prefuse 73 - crazy - Pioneered a style composed of chopped looped, twisted and mixed hip-hop vocals.

Si Begg - Aggressive glitchy bassy breakbeats.

Squarepusher - Tom Jenkinson is a madman on the bass as well as his massive rig of electronics.

Telefon Tel Aviv - Glitchy, spaced out beats.

Twerk - Another Bay Area head, Tewrk develops experimental software and uses it to create music.

Two Lone Swordsmen - Diverse styles from downtempo, to house, to post-rock.

Wagon Christ - Luke Vibert has produced loads of quirky whimsical tunes, with a consistently acidic flavor.
